My Story:

Me with my dad in 1985 after receiving an award at the Salmagundi Club in NYC for his art work.

As a child, I was very familiar with art and creativity. My father is an accomplished pen and ink artist, writer, and storyteller – a jack-of-all creativity. He would spend his days as a tractor and machinery serviceman then come home with grease filled fingers smelling like a gasoline can. Then, as a matter of routine, he’d get cleaned up and head right to his drawing table. I would look over his shoulder at all the things he would bring to life as he dabbed his pen into the ink creating the finest of details from barns and farm machinery to aircraft and ships.

My problem, as I perceived it, was that I had no talent like he did. He tried to teach me how to draw, but it didn’t satisfy me so I would become bored and run out the door to play on the family farm.

But, in elementary school, when we had the chance to pick a musical instrument to try, I picked drums, not because of what may come to mind. I had always heard that Mr. D. didn’t like the drums and didn’t like drummers. So, I figured I must take on this challenge! From there, the drums and music became a big part of my life. By the time I went to college, I was already recording music on a little 4-track with my high school buddies and trying to learn the art of audio production. In my four years of college, I fell in love with audio production and recognized all the forms of creativity that come with it. I knew that when I graduated, however, I was missing something. I wanted more, so I earned my master’s degree in Electronic Media where I was bit by the video bug! I had finally found my missing “it.”

Over 20 years have passed working in film, television, event production, and higher education marketing. Most of those years have been spent producing thousands of marketing videos for higher education. Now, I have come at the point where I need something more. I’m ready to spread my wings, share my talents and skills for a wider variety of opportunities which I get to do through my own free-lance production company, Whiskey Hollow Media.
